Abstract

ABSTRACT: In this study, TixMo5Cu alloys were produced using powder metallurgy processes for use in the field of biomaterials. It was shaped by cold pressing under 550 MPa pressure by adding Mo reinforcement at different rates. The shaped samples were subjected to sintering at 5 different temperatures with a waiting time of 180 minutes. During the sintering period, 99.99% pure argon gas was used to protect it from oxidation. Then, density tests were performed on the samples with Archimedes principle. Since the highest density is reached in alloys sintered at 1300°C; Mechanical tests such as X-ray analysis (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), surface fracture analysis (EDS), tensile and hardness were applied to the samples produced at 1300°C. With the density test, it was observed that the relative density values decreased with increasing Mo ratio. Phase structure was determined by XRD analysis and microstructure properties were determined by SEM. For mechanical properties, vickers hardness and tensile tests were used. The effects of added alloying elements and different sintering temperatures on microstructure and mechanical properties were observed. Depending on the increase in Mo, a decrease in strength and density was observed, while an increase in hardness was detected.
