Kamu Çalışanlarının İslami Finansal Okuryazarlık Düzeylerinin Ölçülmesi: Şanlıurfa İli Örneği
Abstract
ABSTRACT:
This study aims to determine the compliance of public employees’ financial behaviors with Islamic finance principles and their literacy levels. Data was collected from 423 public employees in Şanlıurfa via survey, based on AAOIFI and IFSB standards. Non-parametric tests were applied to data that did not show a normal distribution (p < 0.05). According to the findings, while demographic factors such as age, education, and title did not create a significant difference in Islamic finance literacy, personnel with 6-10 and 16-20 years of seniority showed a higher tendency towards participation banking products. Although women had a strong belief in interest-free banking, their actual preferences were dominated by interest rates. As income increased, trust in participation banks and awareness of sukuk and takaful increased linearly. Statistical analyses revealed strong correlations between the perception of interest-free banking and trust in participation banks (rs = 0.522) and between banking trust and the attractiveness of savings financing (rs = 0.517), leading to the acceptance of hypotheses H5 and H7. The fact that 70% of participants were unsure about the jurisprudential compliance of the products indicates information asymmetry in the sector. The study offers strategic recommendations for the Islamic finance ecosystem.
