Monophyly of Verbascum (Scrophularieae:Scrophulariaceae): Evidence from nuclear and plastid phylogenetic analyses
(2014)Verbascum is one of the main genera of Scrophulariaceae, but delimitation and phylogenetic relationships of this genus are unclear and have not yet been studied using DNA sequences. Here, using four selected molecular ... -
Effects of green manuring on soil enzyme activity
(2014)In this research, the effects of faba bean (Vicia faba L.) used for green manure and forage production as a winter catch crop on some soil biological properties were investigated. The field experiments were conducted in ... -
Determination of L X-ray fluorescence parameters for Ho, Lu, W, Hg and Bi
(2014)In this work, L X-ray fluorescence cross sections, L sub-shell fluorescence yields and level widths and radiative vacancy transfer probabilities of L sub-shells to Mi, Ni and Oi sub-shells were measured for the elements ... -
Effect of grape (Vitis Vinifera L.) pomace on the quality, total phenolic content and anti-radical activity of bread
(2014)In this research, anti-radical activity, total phenolic content (TPC), physicochemical, textural and sensory properties of bread supplemented with 2%, 5% and 10% (w/w, flour basis) of grape pomace powder (GPP) have been ... -
A new zwitterionic electrochromatographic stationary phase based on poly(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate-co-ethylene dimethacrylate) reactive monolith
(2014)A new reactive monolith, poly(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate-co-ethylene dimethacrylate), poly(HPMA-Cl-co-EDMA) was synthesized and post-functionalized by taurine (2-aminoethane sulfonic acid) to obtain a zwitterionic ... -
Taurine ameliorates neuropathy via regulating NF-κB and Nrf2/HO-1 signaling cascades in diabetic rats
(2014)Diabetic neuropathy is one of common complications of diabetes mellitus. Hyperglycemia induced oxidative stress involves in the development of diabetic neuropathy, which could be reversed by supplementation of taurine, an ... -
Nitric oxide improves chilling tolerance of maize by affecting apoplastic antioxidative enzymes in leaves
(2014)The effects of nitric oxide (NO) on chilling tolerance (freezing injury, ice nucleation activity, contents of hydrogen peroxide and superoxide anion, and lipid peroxidation level) and the activities of apoplastic antioxidant ... -
Cichorium intybus from Eastern Anatolia: Phenolic composition, antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory activities
(2014)In the Eastern Anatolia region of Turkey herbal tea or decoction made of Cichorium intybus L. is one of the broadly used traditional herbal remedies to treat diabetes, epilepsy, haemorrhoids, inflammation and digestive ... -
Effects of exogenous nitric oxide in wheat seedlings under chilling stress
(2014)The effects of nitric oxide (NO) on chilling tolerance (contents of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and superoxide anion (O2 –) and lipid peroxidation level (malondialdehyde, MDA)) and the activities of antioxidant enzymes ... -
Stability to a kind of functional differential equations of second order with multiple delays by fixed points
(2014)We discuss the stability of solutions to a kind of scalar Liénard type equations with multiple variable delays by means of the fixed point technique under an exponentially weighted metric. By this work, we improve some ... -
Analyzing production cost of small and medium sized enterprices in terms of sewing department production conditions
(2014)Under the current market conditions, it is compulsory for enterprises to use required resources at maximum productivity level during the production in order to survive and compete. The enterprise executives often have to ... -
Segmentation of SAR images using improved artificial bee colony algorithm and neutrosophic set
(2014)This paper proposes a novel synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image segmentation algorithm based on the neutrosophic set (NS) and improved artificial bee colony (I-ABC) algorithm. In this algorithm, threshold value estimation ... -
A novel texture classification method based on Hessian matrix and principal curvatures [Hessian matrisi ve temel eǧriliklere dayanan yeni bir doku siniflandirma metodu]
(2014)In this study, in order to obtain similar effect with conventional gradient operation and extract more robust feature for texture, we use the principal curvature informations instead of the gradient calculation. Through ... -
Monte Carlo simulation-based planning method for overload safe electrical power systems
(2014)Operational reliability of power systems is one of the most important concerns that engineers have when planning a secure and economical electrical power system. This paper presents a probabilistic power flow analysis, ... -
The life table of the lucerne beetle, Gonioctena fornicata (Brüggem) (=Phytodecta fornicatus Brüggem) (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae) on alfalfa under laboratory conditions
(2014)In this study, the life table of Gonioctena fornicata (Brügg.) was constructed at 25±1 °C constant temperature, 60±5% relative humidity and 16:8 light:dark period in a climate cabinet. Life table parameters were calculated ... -
The investigation of the interaction between orientin and bovine serum albumin by spectroscopic analysis
(2014)In this paper, the interaction between orientin and bovine serum albumin (BSA) was examined using fluorescence and absorbance spectroscopy. The analysis of the quenching mechanism was done using Stern-Volmer plots which ... -
