Abdullah B. Muhammed El- Beytûşî’nin Hayatı, Eserleri ve Edebî Kişiliği

Abstract

ÖZET: Bu çalışma, 18. yüzyıl Kuzey Irak coğrafyasında yetişmiş, Arap dili ve edebiyatındaki yetkinliğine rağmen akademik literatürde yeterince incelenmemiş olan Abdullah b. Muhammed el-Beytûşî’nin hayatını, eserlerini ve edebi kişiliğini konu edinmiştir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yaklaşımı benimsenmiş; verilerin toplanması ve değerlendirilmesinde betimsel, tarihsel-eleştirel, karşılaştırmalı ve metin odaklı analiz yöntemleri bir arada kullanılmıştır. Bu bağlamda müellifin ismi, nisbesi, doğumu, ilmi seyahatleri, hocaları, öğrencileri ve vefatına ilişkin kaynaklarda dağınık ve kimi zaman çelişkili biçimde yer alan veriler karşılaştırmalı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Manzum, mensur, şerh-hâşiye ve lugaz türündeki eserleri ile edebi mektup ve takrizleri tespit edilerek tür, konu ve telif tarihi ölçütlerine göre tasnif edilmiştir. Müellifin dil kültürü, didaktik, lirik ve hitabi üsluplarını harmanlayan üslup özellikleri ve eserlerinde öne çıkan temalar somut şiir ve nesir örnekleri üzerinden çözümlenmiştir. Arap asıllı olmayan bir müellifin klasik Arap şiirinin motif, estetik ve belagat unsurlarını ne ölçüde özümsediği ve kendi ilmi birikimiyle nasıl yeniden yorumladığı örnekler ışığında ortaya konmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda Beytûşî’nin, öğrencisi Osman b. Sened el-Basrî tarafından ‘es-Sibûveyh es-Sânî’ (İkinci Sîbeveyh) olarak nitelendirilmesine yol açan ilmi ve edebi donanımı, sistematik biçimde belgelenmiş ve müellifin klasik Arap edebiyatı geleneği içindeki özgün konumu ortaya konmuştur. Bu yönüyle çalışma, hem Beytûşî’nin yeterince bilinmeyen edebi mirasını görünür kılmakta hem de klasik Arap edebiyatı tarihi araştırmalarına kalıcı bir katkı sunmaktadır.

ABSTRACT: This study aims to present a comprehensive examination of the life, works, and literary personality of Abdullah b. Muhammed al-Baytûshî—rawing on both primary and secondary sources. A qualitative research approach was adopted in the study, and descriptive, historical-critical, comparative, and text-oriented methods of analysis were employed together in the collection and evaluation of the data. In this context, the data concerning the author's name, lineage, birth, scholarly travels, teachers, students, and death, which appear in the sources in a scattered and at times contradictory manner, were assessed comparatively. His works in the verse, prose, commentary-gloss, and riddle genres, together with his literary letters and commendatory notes, were identified and classified according to the criteria of genre, subject, and date of composition. The author's linguistic culture, his stylistic features that blend didactic, lyrical, and rhetorical modes, and the prominent themes in his works were analyzed through concrete examples of poetry and prose. The extent to which a non-Arab author internalized the motifs, aesthetic conception, and rhetorical elements of classical Arabic poetry, and how he reinterpreted them through his own scholarly background, was demonstrated in the light of examples. As a result of the study, the scholarly and literary competence that led his student Osman b. Sened al-Basrî to describe Baytûshî as "es-Sibûyeh es-Sânî" has been systematically documented, and the author's distinctive position within the tradition of classical Arabic literature has been established. In this respect, the study both renders visible Baytûshî's insufficiently known literary heritage and offers a lasting contribution to research on the history of classical Arabic literature.
