Survey of wild food plants for human consumption in villages of Çatak (Van-Turkey)
(2016)This study aims to record accumulation of knowledge on plants which are used as food by native people of Çatak (Van, Turkey) that has a rich culture and a very natural environment. In addition, the medical uses of these ... -
Bio-oil production via catalytic pyrolysis of Anchusa azurea: Effects of operating conditions on product yields and chromatographic characterization
(2016)Pyrolysis of Anchusa azurea, a lignocellulosic gramineous plant, was carried out in a tubular, fixed-bed reactor in the presence of four catalysts (Ca(OH)2, Na2CO3, ZnCl2, Al2O3). The influences of pyrolysis parameters ... -
Characteristic diode parameters in thermally annealed Ni/p-InP contacts
(2016)The Ni/p-InP Schottky diodes (SDs) have been prepared by DC magnetron sputtering deposition. After the diode fabrication, they have been thermally annealed at 700 C for 1 min in N2 atmosphere. Then, the current-voltage ... -
A study on the estimating of sediment concentration with turbidity and acoustic backscatter signal for different sediment sizes
(2016)Turbidity and acoustic measurement are alternative indirect methods to determine sediment concentration. Acoustic Doppler velocimetry can be used to estimate suspended sediment concentration (SSC) with the signal-to-noise ... -
Hydroelectric Energy Potential of Turkey: A Refined Calculation Method
(2016)Turkey is one of the countries with high hydroelectric energy potential, but today only 35 % of this potential is functional. This is due to its geographic position at subtropical climate region with upstream of Euphrates–Tigris ... -
Surface coating of ZnO nanoparticles onto 6H-SiC(0001): Temperature-dependent rectifying behavior
(2016)This work reports on the detailed analysis of the temperature-dependent electrical parameters of the ZnO/6H-SiC barrier diodes. The effect of light on the diode current was also examined. It was found that the diode showed ... -
Investigating the addition of enzymes in gluten-free flours - The effect on pasting and textural properties
(2016)A wide range of enzymes (fungal amylase, esterase, hemicellulase, glucose oxidase and transglutaminase) were added to gluten-free flours (buckwheat, corn and rice) at different concentrations (0, 1, 3, 5, 10 g/100 kg flour) ... -
Supercritical liquefaction of common reed (Phragmites australis) with alkali catalysts
(2016)ABSTRACT: Milled Phragmites australis was liquefied in organic solvents with and without catalyst in a cylindrical reactor at temperatures of 533, 553, and 573 K under supercritical conditions. The liquefied compounds were ... -
Turkish propolis protects human endothelial cells in vitro from homocysteine-induced apoptosis
(2016)Chronic cardiovascular and neurodegenerative complications induced by hyperhomocysteinemia have been most relatively associated with endothelial cell injury. Elevated homocysteine (Hcy) generates reactive oxygen species ... -
Using juniper berry (Juniperus communis) as a supplement in Japanese quail diets
(2016)The present study was conducted to determine the effects of supplemented juniper berry (Juniperus communis) on fattening performance and some carcass traits of quails. A total of 150 one-day-old Japanese quail chicks were ... -
Basic sciences agonize in Turkey!
(2016)In this study, changes from past to present in the departments of physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics, which are considered as the basic sciences in Turkey, are shown. The importance of basic science for the country ... -
K to L shell vacancy transfer probabilities and Auger electron emission ratios for elements in the atomic range 30 ≤ Z ≤ 58
(2016)The K to L shell vacancy transfer probabilities for some elements in the atomic range 30 ≤ Z ≤ 58 were determined using the semi-empirical values of K shell fluorescence yield and the experimental values of Kb/Kα X-ray ... -
Purification and Characterization of Glucose 6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase, 6-Phosphogluconate Dehydrogenase, and Glutathione Reductase from Rat Heart and Inhibition Effects of Furosemide, Digoxin, and Dopamine on the Enzymes Activities
(2016)The present study was aimed to investigate characterization and purification of glucose–6-phosphate dehydrogenase, 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase, and glutathione reductase from rat heart and the inhibitory effect of ... -
Seasonal prevalence of Allocreadium isoporum (Loos, 1894) (Digenea: Allecreadiidae) in Oxynoemacheilus tigris (Osteichthyes: Balitoridae) (Steindachner, 1897) from Murat River, Eastern Anatolia, Turkey
(2016)This study was conducted to determine the seasonal prevalence, and intensity of Allocreadium isoporum, which was founded as an endoparasite in Oxynoemacheilus tigris. A total of 136 host fishes was captured seasonally from ... -
Power converters modeling in Matlab/Simulink for microgrid simulations
(2016)Smart grid is a developing field for energy researchers. It offers technological improvements to have more controllable, reliable and sustainable power grids. Especially, the decreasing trend of fuels has pressurized to ... -
Electronic Transport of an Ni/n-GaAs Diode Analysed Over a Wide Temperature Range
(2016)We have reported a study on current–voltage (I–V) characteristics and capacitance–voltage (C–V) of an Ni/n-GaAs Schottky barrier diode in a wide temperature (T) range of 100–320 K in steps of 20 K, which is prepared by a ... -
A bis-Lewis basic 2-aminoDMAP/prolinamide organocatalyst for application to the enantioselective synthesis of Warfarin and derivatives
(2016)A new chiral sec-amine/amidine-base hybrid catalyst, 2-aminoDMAP/prolinamide, is reported, which is able to catalyze conjugate addition of 4-hydroxycoumarin and various benzylideneacetones, a reaction that directly gives ... -
An alternative model of the concentric spherical shell universes according to the virial theorem
(2016)The virial theorem derivations from previous works are used in this study. According to the virial theorem, a model of the universes is defined because the universes are closed and stable spaces. The universes are estimated ... -
