Fabrication and characterization of NiCoZn-M (M: Ag, Pd and Pt) electrocatalysts as cathode materials for electrochemical hydrogen production
(2011)Ag, Pd and Pt-modified alkaline leached NiCoZn composite coatings were prepared on a copper specimen by electrochemical technique. The chemical composition of layers before and after leaching as well as after noble metal ... -
Efficacy of vitamin E and selenium for the prevention of intra-abdominal adhesions in rats: Uterine horn models
(2011)OBJECTIVE: This study compares the efficacies of vitamin E and selenium, both individually and in combination, for the prevention of postoperative intra-abdominal adhesions in rats. METHODS: Forty-seven female rats were ... -
The effect of thickness of organic layer on electronic properties of Al/Rhodamine B/p-Si structure
(2011)The effect of the thickness of a Rhodamine B film on the electronic properties of Al/Rhodamine B/p-Si structures has been investigated. Thin film of Rhodamine B organic compound was deposited on p-Si substrate as an ... -
Experimental and theoretical studies of thiazoles as corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in sulphuric acid solution
(2011)The inhibition effects of 2-amino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (2A5MT) and 2-mercaptothiazoline (2MT) on mild steel corrosion in 1.0M H2SO4 were studied with potentiodynamic polarization, linear polarization resistance and ... -
Growth performance and carcass traits of broiler reared in conventional and organic conditions
(2011)This experiment was conducted to compare the growth and some carcass characteristics of broiler chickens reared in conventional and organic methods. Totally 360 days-old broiler chicks were divided into 6 groups randomly ... -
Oxidative stress biomarkers of exposure to deltamethrin in rainbow trout fry (oncorhynchus mykiss)
(2011)Deltamethrin (DM) is a widely used pesticide based on pyrethroids, and is reported to be extremely toxic to fish species. We investigated the effect of DM concentrations (0.010, 0.0125 and 0.0250 μg/L) on antioxidants in ... -
The investigation of synergistic inhibition effect of rhodanine and iodide ion on the corrosion of copper in sulphuric acid solution
(2011)The synergistic inhibition effect of rhodanine (Rdn) and iodide ion on the corrosion of copper in 0.5M H2SO4 solution was studied using electrochemical techniques. The surface morphologies of the substrates were examined ... -
Rotational and nematicidal effect of lupine (Lupinus albus L.: Leguminosae)
(2011)The study was conducted to evaluate the nematicidial and rotational activity of lupine (Lupinus albus L.), in completely randomized design in a growth room in pots, in 2011. Naturally infested soil, from an arable land ... -
Chemical analyses of the seeds of some forage legumes from Turkey. A chemotaxonomic approach
(2011)The seeds of six forage legumes (Leguminosae) were investigated for their protein, tannin contents and fatty acid compositions. The protein contents of forage legume seeds were found to be between 23.1 and 37.2%. On the ... -
Effect of short-term cypermethrin exposure on oxidant-antioxidant balance in the whole body of rainbow trout fry (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
(2011)The objective of this study was to investigate the propensity of cypermethrin (CYP) to induce whole body oxidative stress in rainbow trout following exposure. We investigated the effect of CYP (10%, 5%, 2% and 1% of the ... -
Fluorescence quenching of fluorescein by Merocyanine 540 in liposomes
(2011)The fluorescence quenching of fluorescein (FL) by merociyanine 540 (MC540) was examined in L-egg lecithin phosphatidycholine (PC) liposomes using spectroscopic methods. The type of quenching mechanism (dynamic or static) ... -
Cell wall modification in 1-methylcyclopropene-treated post-climacteric fresh-cut and intact papaya fruit
(2011)Papaya is a climacteric fruit in which ripening is greatly regulated by ethylene often associated with stress responses such as wounding. The changes in cell wall compositions in papaya fruit at an advanced stage of ripening ... -
Nematodes associated with pistachio in Sanliurfa, Turkey
(2011)The study was conducted to investigate nematodes associated with pistachio grown in Sanliurfa, located in the Southeastern Anatolian region, between 2003 and 2005. Current status of plant parasitic nematode groups, as well ... -
