Abstract

ABSTRACT: Palynological characterization is recognized as one of the important taxonomic tools for delimitation and identification of morphologically complex taxa. In this study, the palynomorphological features of 29 taxa belonging to the genus Astragalus L. (Fabaceae) distributed in Bingöl province were investigated by light and electron microscopy. The studied pollens were monad, trizonocolporate, pollen shape subprolate, prolate, prolate spheroidal. The exine sculpture was reticulate and microreticulate. It was determined that the polar axis lengths of the pollen were between 22.46-43.24 μm and the equatorial axis lengths were in the range of 18.59-33.50 μm. As a result of morphological studies, it was determined that the smallest pollen was Astragalus lotifolius, and the largest pollen was Astragalus xylobasis. AMB diameters in polar view were ranges from 19.63-35.98 μm. The pollen with the smallest AMB diameter was Astragalus lotifolius, and the largest pollen was Astragalus lineatus. In the second stage of the study, melissopalynological analyzes were performed to Astragalus honeys which taken from 8 regions of Bingöl province. It was determined that the honeys obtained from Adaklı, Genç, Karlıova, Kiğı, Merkez and Yayladere were monofloral Astragalus honey, while the honeys obtained from Solhan and Yedisu were multifloral honey.
