The energy balance of the sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) oil
Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to make an energy input-output analysis of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) oil. In this study, the energy balance of sesame oil has been defined. According to average data of enterprise has been calculated at a sesame oil producing enterprise located in the Isparta province of the Turkey. In sesame oil production, energy input has been calculated as 1801.20 MJ and energy output has been calculated as 1734.59 MJ. Energy output/input rate has been defined as 0.96. Energy inputs consist of 84.39% sesame seed energy, 8.52% equipment (oil pressing) energy, 6% electricity energy and 1.09% human labour energy, respectively. In this production, that sesame seed has been used as raw material in the sesame oil production in process as the highest input. In the energy outputs, an average of 27.50 kg sesame oil and 72.50 sesame pulp have been extracted by processing 100 kg sesame seed. © Sila Science. All Rights Reserved.
