dc.description.abstract | Crambe maritima is a forgotten and wild plants and has an undiscovered potential as a field vegetable. Its natural habitat is gravel beaches in northern Europe and the Black Sea. In this study, micropropagation of Crambe maritima using hypocotyl explants isolated from in vitro regenerated plantlets has been reported. The hypocotyl explants were cultured on MS medium containing 9 different combinations of 0.50, 1.0, 2.0 mg L-1 BAP and 0.0, 0.25, 0.50 mg L-1 NAA. While the percentage of maximum mean callus regeneration was obtained from MS medium containing 0.50 mg L-1 BAP + 0.50 mg L-1 NAA, maximum mean shoot regeneration was reported in MS medium containing 2.0 mg L-1 BAP + 0.25 mg L-1 NAA. The percentage of maximum mean number of shoot per explant and maximum mean number of shoot length were obtained from MS medium containing 1.0 mg L-1 BAP + 0.50 mg L-1 NAA and MS medium containing 2.0 mg L-1 BAP, respectively. Micropropagated shoots were rooted on MS medium containing 1.0 mg L-1 NAA. © 2016, Centenary University. All rights reserved. | |
