Abstract
ABSTRACT: Amino acid conjugates are obtained by the reaction of amino acids and organic compounds with various biological and physical properties. Although the studies of these conjugates on biological activity well documented in the literature, their electrical properties have not been studied in detail. Therefore, the aim of the work described in this thesis was the synthesis of novel cinnamic acid substituted amino acid conjugate and investigation of their physical activities in terms of structure-activity relationship. In this study, 28 amino acid conjugates were synthesized using benzotriazole and triazine methods and their structures were characterized by 1H, 13C APT, COSY, HETCOR NMR, elemental analysis and FT-IR methods. The dielectric properties of these conjugates were studied examining their dielectric constant, dielectric loss and conductivity. The structure-activity relationship was evaluated considering the factors such as π bond conjugation, substitution, amino acid difference and electron releasing and withdrawing group effects. In parallel with the increase in the number of aromatic rings the conductivity was increased. Among para substitute conjugates 4-chloro-CA-Ala-OMe had the highest conductivity and dielectric constant (ε') 8.34. The number of amino acid in the conjugate was also observed as an important parameter level of conductivity.
