Abstract
Operational reliability of power systems is one of the most important concerns that engineers have when planning a secure and economical electrical power system. This paper presents a probabilistic power flow analysis, based on the Monte Carlo simulation method, to support an overload safe power system designed to tolerate demand uncertainty and fluctuations of transmission parameters. Generation and transmission capacities in the power system can be estimated on the basis of operational risks and system installation costs. The proposed approach will be very useful for the rational planning of secure power distribution systems.
