ABSTRACT:
This study was carried out to determine the of response bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) to
salt stress at different salt and leonardite levels in a controlled climate conditioning room
of the Faculty of Agriculture of Bingöl University. Göynük-98 bean cultivar was used as
plant material in the study. Four doses (0, 50, 100, 150 mM) of sodium chloride (NaCl)
were used for salt stress and 0, 20, 30 and 40 g/kg for leonardite. In this study, root
length, shoot fresh and dry weights, number of leaves in the plant and parameters of the
effect on the uptake of some macro and micro elements were investigated. According to
the results, both leonardite and salt concentrations were found statistically important in
terms of root length, shoot length, root fresh weight and shoot fresh weight. When the
intake of macro and micro elements were examined, K and P amount decreased while
Na amount increased. In leonardite applications, K and Na amount increased while P
amount did not change proportionally. The use of leonardite has been found to have a
positive effect on the growth and ion intake of common bean plant to salt stress.
