Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study was conducted to reveal the effect of leonardite and biochar obtained from oak coal on important agricultural characteristics on tomato ((Lycopersicon esculentum L., Guldar variety) suitable for Bingöl region. The trial was established in pots in the trial area of Bingöl University Faculty of Agriculture. Tomato seedlings were planted in the pots on 14 June 2021 with 4 replications according to the the experimental randomized plots. Leonardite and biochar used in the experiment were applied in three different doses (Control, 2.74 g, 5.48 g, 10.96 g). The results obtained in the study are as follows; with the increase in the amount of biochar applied to the soil, the total weight of the tomato plant and the green part weights were positively affected. In the research tomato plant; It was determined that the length of the green parts, the flowering period, the number of leaves and the stem diameters differed statistically according to the biochar application dose. The experiment was continued until flowering and was terminated during the fruiting period. According to the results obtained from the fresh and dry weights of the tomato plant, both above and below the ground, it was determined that the biochar obtained from oak charcoal and leonardite caused improvement in the soil in terms of its physical and chemical properties. In addition, it was determined that the test plant, the tomato plant, had positive effects on the growth parameters. Therefore, it is thought to be a preferable application.
