Türkiye‟de Ar-Ge Faaliyetlerinin Dış Ticaret Performansına Etkisi

Abstract

ÖZET: Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye‟deki Ar-Ge faaliyetlerinin, Türkiye‟nin dış ticaret performansına etkisini tespit etmektir. Böylece Türkiye‟nin küresel piyasalardaki konumu ve etkinliğine Ar-Ge faaliyetlerinin ne derece etkisi olduğu daha iyi anlaşılacaktır. Bu bağlamda Türkiye‟nin 1990-2019 dönemindeki Ar-Ge harcaması ile ithalat ve ihracatının yıllık verilerini kullanarak Ar-Ge harcamalarıyla ithalat ve ihracat arasındaki uzun ve kısa dönemli ilişkisi zaman serisi analiziyle araştırılmıştır. ARDL sınır testi yöntemiyle değişkenler arasındaki ilişki test edilmiş olup elde edilen sonuçlara göre Ar-Ge harcamalarıyla hem ithalat hem de ihracat arasında uzun dönemde pozitif ve anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmıştır. Öte yandan Ar-Ge harcamalarıyla ihracat arasında kısa dönemde pozitif ve anlamlı ilişki tespit edilmişken ithalat arasında kısa dönemde negatif ve istatistiki olarak anlamlı bir ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Ar-Ge harcamalarıyla uzun dönemde hem ihracatın hem de ithalatın eş bütünleşik olduğu saptanmıştır.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of R&D activities in Turkey on Turkey's foreign trade performance. Thus, the impact of R&D activities on Turkey's position and effectiveness in global markets will be better understood. In this context, the long- and short-term relationship between R&D expenditures and imports and exports was investigated by time series analysis, using the annual data of Turkey's R&D expenditures and imports and exports for the period 1990-2019. The relationship between the variables was tested with the ARDL limit test method, and according to the results obtained, a positive and significant relationship was found between R&D expenditures and both imports and exports in the long run. On the other hand, a positive and significant relationship was found between R&D expenditures and exports in the short run, while a negative and statistically significant relationship was found between imports in the short run. It has been determined that both exports and imports are co-integrated with R&D expenditures in the long run.
