Abstract
This study was carried out in the province of Bingol, in order to determine the structural status, basic problems, and solution of solutions for beekeeping enterprises. A questionnaire was administered to 87 individuals using a proportional sampling method. A regression analysis was then used to determine the factors affecting yield of honey yield per hive. According to results of the study, the average age of the farmers was 47.3, years the average duration of beekeeping was 18,1 years, the average number of hives was 133.6 per beekeeper and the average amount of honey yield per colony was 11.1 kg. A large part (84%) of the beekeepers were migratory beekeepers and 78,2% of the beekeepers had placement and accommodation problems. It was determined that the three most important factors for the beekeepers in the development of the Bingol beekeeping; not enough knowledge in beekeeping (32.2%), inadequate subsidies (29.9%), and marketing problems (23%). It was also observed that the honey yields were higher in beekeeping enterprises that had with more professional experience, fewer hives, and were in the migratory beekeeping business. As a result, it was also determined that the development of strategies and policies aimed at farmers engaged in migratory beekeeping, in which succeeded in solving the problem of accommodation and occupational experience, will significantly increase honey production and yield in the region.
