The research was carried out in Bingöl for the determination of some elements and heavy metals in the extracted honey obtained after 2019 honey harvest. The levels of some elements and heavy metals were determined by ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometer) in 11 extracted honey samples obtained from honey production areas. As, Cd, Cs, Hg, Li, Pb and Se were not found in honey samples. Other elements and heavy metals were found to have the following ranges: Al 14.10±12.68 ppb, Ca 12.79±42.40 ppb, Cr 2.51±0.58 ppb, Cu 0.98±0.38 ppb, Fe 28.84±12,92 ppb, K 3920.12±1806.12 ppb, Mg 128.66± 33.08 ppb, Mn 3.94±2.61 ppb, Na 140.62±61.21 ppb, Ni 2.02±0.65 ppb and Zn 9.71±6.74 ppb. When the results of the study were compared with some international limits for honey consumption. It was concluded that the honey in which the study tested would not pose any danger to human health from consumption. It is also comforting to find that no heavy metals have been detected in these honey samples. © 2020 Bursa Uludag University. All rights reserved.
